Amazon Creator Connections Explained: How Brand Campaigns Work

Amazon Creator Connections Explained: How Brand Campaigns Work

Quick answer: Amazon Creator Connections is a marketplace inside Associates Central where brands offer creators extra earnings on specific products. Under Affiliate+, a brand sets a bonus commission rate on top of your standard commission for qualifying sales. Under Sponsored Products for Creators, you are paid for qualified clicks to selected products. Eligibility depends on your Creator Stars tier: Bronze or above for Affiliate+, Gold or above for Sponsored Products for Creators.

Creator Connections is one of the least understood parts of the Amazon creator ecosystem, partly because people confuse it with sponsorships. It is not a payment for posting. It is an opt-in system with budgets, dates and product lists, and it only pays when the conditions in a campaign are met. This post explains the mechanics using Amazon’s own Creator Connections guides. If you are new to the program as a whole, read the Amazon Influencer Program guide first, then return here.

One caution before the details. Amazon updates these programs and its guides carry different dates, so the numbers and tier names below reflect the guides reviewed in October 2026. Open Creator Connections in your own Associates Central account for the current terms before you opt in to anything.

What Creator Connections Is - banner for Amazon Creator Connections Explained: How Brand Campaigns Work

What Creator Connections Is

The company describes Creator Connections as a marketplace service connecting brands that sell on Amazon with Amazon creators. Creators can partner with brands, discover products and grow earnings. The brand creates and manages the campaign. The creator chooses which campaigns to accept, makes content about the featured products, and earns on that performance.

You find it in Associates Central under the Promotions tab. Once you are in, you see tabs for each earning opportunity you are eligible for. Amazon’s Creator Connections page lists two ways to earn on top of your standard rates: Affiliate+, which pays a bonus commission for qualified sales, and Sponsored Products for Creators, which pays for qualified clicks.

The company’s explainer for the Influencer Program also lists a third model inside Creator Connections: flat-rate fees for creating sponsored social content that brands can license for advertising. That is a different arrangement from the two campaign types above, and it works more like a content deal. The rest of this post focuses on the two campaign types, because they are the ones Amazon’s getting-started guide describes in detail.

Who Is Eligible: Creator Stars Tiers - banner for Amazon Creator Connections Explained: How Brand Campaigns Work

Who Is Eligible: Creator Stars Tiers

Eligibility depends on the Creator Stars program, Amazon’s tier system for creators. There are four tiers: Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum. Points are calculated from shipped revenue and link clicks. Creators in good standing in the Influencer Program are enrolled automatically if they had at least 100 link clicks or at least $1 in shipped revenue in the previous quarter. Your tier appears in Associates Central or Creator Central, and Amazon emails you when it changes.

Amazon’s Creator Connections guide ties each earning opportunity to a tier. For Affiliate+, you must meet the Bronze tier criteria or above. For Sponsored Products for Creators, you must meet the Gold tier criteria or above. That means a creator who has just started, with few clicks and sales, may see only some of the opportunities, or none, until the numbers grow.

I reached the Gold tier on my own storefront, House of Grabois, after becoming an Amazon Influencer on July 15, 2026. I mention it only because tiers are real and they are reachable, not because a tier guarantees anything. The company’s eligibility rule looks at the previous quarter, so a tier is something you keep earning and not something you win once.

How Affiliate+ Bonus Commissions Work - banner for Amazon Creator Connections Explained: How Brand Campaigns Work

How Affiliate+ Bonus Commissions Work

Affiliate+ is the campaign type most creators encounter first. Amazon’s getting-started guide explains the pieces of a campaign, and each one affects what you can earn.

  • Start and end dates: you earn a bonus only on qualifying sales within the dates.
  • Budget: the maximum amount the brand will spend on bonus commissions. When it runs out, the bonus stops, and the campaign can end early.
  • Commission rate: set by the brand, not negotiable, and in Amazon’s guide described as ranging from 10 to 50 percent.
  • ASINs: the specific products in the campaign. You earn the bonus only on listed ASINs, and a variation that is not in the campaign does not earn it.

The bonus is paid in addition to your standard commission. Amazon’s own example in the guide uses a $50 product, a campaign budget of $5,000 and a 10 percent bonus rate. Ten qualified sales would earn $50 in bonus commission on top of your usual commission. The arithmetic is simple: 10 percent of $50 is $5 per sale, times 10 sales. This is Amazon’s illustration of the math, not a prediction of what you will earn.

The guide also notes that you earn only on qualified shipped sales during the campaign dates, and that there is no flat fee for content creation under Affiliate+. In other words, the bonus depends on the sale actually shipping. The company’s Creator Connections material says the bonus commission is paid together with your standard Associates commissions, so the timing follows the usual monthly payment schedule of about 60 days after month end.

How Sponsored Products for Creators Works - banner for Amazon Creator Connections Explained: How Brand Campaigns Work

How Sponsored Products for Creators Works

Sponsored Products for Creators pays for clicks instead of sales. Per Amazon’s guide, you can get paid for driving qualified clicks to select products, on top of your standard commissions. It lives under its own tab inside Creator Connections, in Associates Central under Promotions.

After you accept a campaign, any valid click that originates from your affiliate link in your content or from your storefront qualifies. Invalid clicks, such as those from bots, do not earn. The company says you can take part in as many Sponsored Products for Creators campaigns at the same time as you like, and it asks you to join only campaigns you actually intend to promote and that match your audience.

The guide also addresses overlap. If you join both an Affiliate+ campaign and a Sponsored Products for Creators campaign for the same product, you do not necessarily earn both, so read that section of the guide before stacking campaigns. Track performance in the earnings reports in Associates Central or inside Creator Connections, where you see clicks, earnings per click and sales metrics for each campaign alongside standard commissions.

What to Check Before You Opt In - banner for Amazon Creator Connections Explained: How Brand Campaigns Work

What to Check Before You Opt In

Opting in takes a click, which makes it tempting to accept everything. Resist that. A campaign is only worth your time if the product fits your audience and you can film or write about it honestly. Work through these questions for each campaign:

  1. Do I actually own, use or have tried this product? The FTC says you cannot talk about your experience with a product you have not tried.
  2. Is the product in the ASIN list, and is it the exact variation I plan to feature?
  3. Do the start and end dates leave enough time to publish content and have shoppers buy?
  4. Is there still budget left? If the budget is exhausted, the campaign ends early and no more bonus is paid.
  5. Does this product suit my niche, or would it look out of place on my storefront?

Amazon’s guide also notes that creators keep editorial control. The bonus depends on sales, not on saying specific things. That is worth remembering when a product is a poor fit: you are free to skip the campaign.

Disclosure and Content Rules Still Apply - banner for Amazon Creator Connections Explained: How Brand Campaigns Work

Disclosure and Content Rules Still Apply

Creator Connections does not change your disclosure duties. The extra incentive, if anything, makes clear disclosure more important. The FTC’s Disclosures 101 guide says to disclose financial relationships with a brand and to place the disclosure where viewers cannot miss it. For video, it should be in the video itself. The company’s Operating Agreement separately requires the Associate statement, “As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases,” clearly and prominently.

Amazon’s video content guidelines also say that videos may include products gifted by a brand, provided they are sold on Amazon and you clearly and conspicuously disclose the connection in the video. They prohibit prices and promotions, calls to visit other sites, and requests for positive reviews. A campaign that tempts you toward any of those is a campaign to pass on. For a complete checklist of disclosure wording and placement, see affiliate disclosure for bloggers.

How Creator Connections Fits With Your Other Income - banner for Amazon Creator Connections Explained: How Brand Campaigns Work

How Creator Connections Fits With Your Other Income

Think of Creator Connections as an add-on rather than a foundation. Your base income, if any, comes from standard commissions on products shoppers buy through your storefront and links. Campaign bonuses sit on top of that, and they depend on brands creating campaigns for products that suit you. That makes the income less predictable than your own catalog.

This is also where the program intersects with the differences between Influencer, Associates and Creator Connections. The earlier post on Amazon Influencer vs. Amazon Associates explains the base programs, and the deep dive on qualifying for Amazon Influencer covers how to get through the door. Once you are in and building a library of videos, campaigns can nudge your product choices, but they should never replace your judgment about what to feature.

Finally, keep records. Note which campaigns you accepted, the dates, the products and the content you made. When payments arrive, you will want to match them to those details. Amazon says it must have your tax information on file before it pays, and payment arrives about 60 days after the month in which the commissions were earned, so good notes make reconciliation easier months later.

A Worked Example of Reading a Campaign - banner for Amazon Creator Connections Explained: How Brand Campaigns Work

A Worked Example of Reading a Campaign

Here is a made-up campaign, built only to show how to read the terms. A brand lists a kitchen organizer. The campaign runs for 30 days, has a 15 percent bonus rate, and includes three ASINs: the small, medium and large sizes. Before opting in, check the three things that decide whether the campaign can pay you.

First, the product list. If you plan to film the medium organizer and it is one of the three ASINs, you are covered. If you film the black version and only the white version is listed, the guide says a variation that is not in the campaign does not earn the bonus. Second, the dates. A 30-day window is short once you account for filming, editing and the days a video can wait in Pending moderation. Third, the budget. A small budget shared among every creator who accepted can run out before your content gets traction.

Then do the rough math using Amazon’s own method. The bonus equals the bonus rate times the qualifying sale price. A 15 percent bonus on a $40 organizer is $6 per qualifying sale. That is an illustration of the formula and not an expectation of income. The real constraint is whether shoppers buy and whether the sale ships within the window.

Finally, decide whether the product belongs on your channel. Skip any product that would make a viewer wonder why you suddenly recommend it. Your storefront works best when the products line up with what your audience already trusts you on.

One last habit helps: review campaigns on a fixed day each week instead of whenever you remember. New campaigns appear and old ones close, so a short weekly check keeps you from missing a good fit or promoting a product after its budget has already run out.

Frequently Asked Questions - banner for Amazon Creator Connections Explained: How Brand Campaigns Work

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Creator Connections the same as being sponsored?

No. Affiliate+ and Sponsored Products for Creators pay based on qualified sales or clicks within campaign rules. The company’s explainer separately mentions flat-fee sponsored content for brands to license, which works differently.

Do I earn the bonus in addition to my normal commission?

Yes. Amazon’s guides say the bonus is paid on top of your standard Associates or Influencer commission.

What tier do I need?

The company’s guide says Bronze tier or above for Affiliate+ and Gold tier or above for Sponsored Products for Creators.

Can a campaign end early?

Yes. Each campaign has a budget, and once it runs out, you no longer earn the bonus and the campaign can end before its scheduled end date.

Where do I find campaigns?

Log in to Associates Central and open the Promotions tab, where Creator Connections lists the opportunities you are eligible for.
